LECOM Honored as Employer of the Year
Erie’s expertise in education and
training was reflected in two Employers of the Year honored on January 19 by the
Economic Development Corporation of Erie County ( EDCEC ) at its annual dinner
meeting.
LECOM was honored in the non-manufacturing category for its dramatic growth
and local economic impact since it opened in 1993 as an osteopathic medical
school. It was announced at the dinner that LECOM expects to become the
nation’s largest medical school this fall when its total enrollment at Erie and
Bradenton, Florida campuses reaches 1,418 – the highest number of students among
20 osteopathic or D.O. medical schools and 100 allopathic or M.D. medical
schools.
LECOM has graduated more than 1,000 physicians at its Erie campus on West
Grandview Boulevard, now shared by the LECOM School of Pharmacy.
LECOM Board Chair Michael J. Visnosky, Esq., and Donald Tuttle, Pharm.D.,
Dean of the LECOM School of Pharmacy, accepted the EDCEC award.
